Biography
I
received my Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University
of Northern Colorado. I started teaching privately in high school
and have continued ever since. I started teaching Orchestra in Adams
County School District 50 in 1976. After eight years, I took some
time off when from public school teaching when my children were born
and continued my private lesson studio. I returned to public school
teaching on a part time basis in Adams County District 12. I returned
to District 50 in 1992 and taught there for six years. In 1993, I
returned to college and got my certification to teach elementary education.
From 1998 to 2000, I left teaching for a bit to try my hand at being
a travel agent. I found out that I really missed teaching and that
I was not cut out for a desk job. Following my stint as a travel agent,
I taught orchestra in Jefferson County, Highlands Ranch High School
in Douglas County and Denver School of the Arts in the Denver Public
Schools. In addition, I have performed professionally with the Boulder
Philharmonic, Arvada Chamber, and several other local orchestras.
At present, I play professionally with the Cameo String Quartet and
am a free-lance musician in the Denver-Metro Area. I have studied
privately with Curtis Peacock, Howard Mickens and Mark Lamprey. I
am an active member of American String Teachers Association, where
I serve as President-Elect.
